7533 Sewing, Embroidery and Related Workers
Description of functions:
Sewing, Embroidery and Related Workers Sewing, embroidery and related workers sew together, repair, renovate and decorate garments, gloves and other products of textile, fur, light leather and other materials and fabricate tents, sails, awnings and tarpaulins. They work mainly by hand, using a needle and thread, but may perform some tasks using a sewing machine.
Participants receive a bag of used clothes that has been returned to the Salvation Army. The clothes are classified according to whether they are whole, party whole or ruined. Whole garments go straight to Hertex’s stores. Part-solid garments are classified according to the textile material type and thickness. Solid and usable pieces of material are cut from the textile processing.
Textiles are cut into either cushions or kimonos and the pieces of fabric are sewn together. Trademarks and labels with ingredients are sewn into the product. The final product is lined up in the Hertex store.
Work conditions:
The knowledge, skills, aptitudes, and attitudes in sewing jobs and sustainable recycling.
In this work environment it refers to sewing and preparation of textile.
Requirements of job holder:
- age: not younger than 18 years
- basic knowledge about sustainable cycle
- basic knowledge about sewing.
